We have helped home owners, commercial developers, builders, architects and engineers develop a more complete understanding of green principles and how they can impact those involved in the construction and later occupancy of a structure.

There are many ways to "go green". Whether you use Insulating Concrete Form construction or not, we can advise you regarding things such as:

  • The impacts on human and pet health of building green.
  • The importance of site selection and building orientation.
  • Ways to minimize the impact of construction on natural habitats.
  • Ways to make the thermal (building) envelope of a structure more energy efficient.
  • Ways to conserve water including rain and gray water collection.
  • Use of Rapidly Renewable materials such as cork and bamboo.
  • Utilization of on site renewable energy sources such as solar and wind.
  • Ways to minimize the heat island effect of your structure.
  • Water Efficient Landscaping.
  • Refrigerant Managment in Commercial Structures.
  • How green building can enhance your marketing strategies and bottom line or the resale of a home.
  • Mortgage Lenders that offer Energy Efficient Mortgages who will lend you more money than normal if you are building an energy efficient structure.

Here in the Central Texas area there is a tremendous network of individuals that can assist you with all aspects of your project and we can help you locate the right team for your project. Green Building may cost a little more up front, but over time building a more sustainable structure over time will allow you to save energy, water and positively impact the health of those that occupy a space. This long term view of construction and its impact on the environment, resources, and human health and safety is one of the primary things that seperates green building from typical residential and commercial construction.

As members of the local Balcones Chapter of the US Green Building Council we are actively involved in advocacy for green building. Green Building is about pushing beyond current code standards and typically involves more emphasis on the performance of the structure rather than its aesthetics.
